The
girls varsity tennis team is swinging into another promising season. The team is
looking for another great year as they fight for the Metro title. The Lady Falcons are led
by seniors Rachael Van Liefde and Allison Judy, juniors Eva Cantu and Christina Peterson,
and the Gaskin sisters, senior Anne and junior Katie. The girls are always working hard
and committed to do their best at every match.
The girls had a very strong showing last year. They did extremely well
in the Metro division competition, placing third behind Loretto and St. Francis. They also
did very well in out-of-town tournaments and at the Metro Championships. "We always
have tough competition, especially with St. Francis and Loretto. We have worked really
hard and are well prepared for the challenge," said senior Anne Gaskins. They start
the year off playing in the Cordova tournament and then begin their Metro season against
Loretto, before leaving to San Francisco for the big tournament at Sacred Heart.
There is a new addition to the girls tennis family this year. New
coach Kenny Mack has the girls working hard and striving to do their best. Senior Rachael
Van Liefde said, "We have a new coach and a lot of new players, so were still
working on team chemistry, but it is a change and change is good."
With the new talent and a new coach, the tennis team hopes to start a
new tradition of dominance for years to come here at Christian Brothers. |
