The Football Revival

It’s that time of year again, when temperatures top 100 and the smell of the locker room becomes unbearable–it’s football season. Facing a four season long losing streak, the Falcons have nowhere to go but up. With the new navy blue uniforms and experienced coaches, the Falcons not only look good, but they have a higher sense of confidence this year.

Winning, however, is not the only motive going into the season; revenge is the topic on most players minds. "All the hard work in the off season is finally looking like its going to pay off this year," says senior Steve Cuckovich. Disappointing defeats to Sacramento High, Jesuit, and McClatchy left bitter tastes in the mouths of returning varsity players. All-Metro stars Joe Traverso, Richard Chinakwae, and Albert Hollis will be ready to strut their stuff when the Metro League begins. "Everyone is dedicated this season and there is a stronger sense of family between teammates," said senior Ronnie Gayton.

The fourth game of the year, which is against Jesuit, is sure to be a determining factor how this season will turn out. The battle against Sacramento High in our Homecoming game this year should produce a very physical game filled with high adrenaline and hot tempers. The record in the Holy Bowl as well as in the win column look to be filled with promise.
