Wanna Drag?

Excitement seethes at the raceway. The roar of tightly wound engines is deafening; the heady scent of burnt rubber is intoxicating; in the air hangs an electricity thick enough to bite into. All of this can be yours for only $12 at Sacramento Raceway.

It’s true. The thrill of racing, which is generally thought of as existing only in action movies, is available to anyone with the need for speed. All one needs to race at Sacramento Raceway is $12, a driver’s license, a car, and a burning desire to test one’s limits.

A beginner may have qualms before registering to race. Will experienced drivers make fun of my car? Will my slow initial speed be mocked? Will I be out of place? These apprehensions are incorrect. Any Christian Brothers student will feel comfortable at the raceway.

Many of the racers are young people (around twenty years old) with average street cars. Most are uncritical of beginners and are happy to answer any questions. Although an occasional professional race car will reach speeds in excess of 300 mph, most cars will only reach a far less threatening speed of 80 or 90 mph on a quarter-mile track.

Racing is guaranteed to warm the blood to a fever heat. There is nothing more thrilling than revving an infuriated engine while anxiously anticipating the lights to turn from red to green and finally, peeling out into the race.

To star in your very own action movie, you can register to race every Wednesday and Friday evening from 5 to 11 PM at the Sacramento Raceway. Sacramento Raceway is located at the end of Excelsior Road off Jackson Road. It is $12 to race and only $6 to watch. Either way, a sensational evening is in store.
