Drama |

This
course is a one semester course, introducing the student to all aspects of the theater.
The student will learn the basics of acting through improvisation, mime, stage movement,
voice production, diction, scene study, character analysis and the techniques of
Stanislavski and Meisner. The students study different forms and types of theatrical
works, from classical to farce to modern and will work on monologues, scenes and one-act
plays for the stage. The basics of set construction, scene design, costume design, stage
make-up, accents and dialects will all be introduced. Fulfills C.S.U. subject requirement. |

Advanced Drama: Acting |
5 Credits;
Semester |
Open to Sophomores , Juniors and Seniors . Prerequisite:
A "B" or better in Drama or approval of instructor. |
This
course continues where Drama leaves off, using improvisation, scene study, monologues and
one-act plays to build the student's acting skills. In-depth character analysis is
included, as is work in pantomime, accents and dialects in both modern and classical
characters, the study of the teachings and methods of Stanislavski, Meisner, Strasburg and
The Group Theatre. The students also write short scenes and monologues. Scripts from other
media are used as well, including television commercials, sit-coms, episodics and film.
Fulfills C.S.U. subject requirement. |
