This
course provides practical experience in art, graphic design, writing copy, advertising,
and photography. Students have the opportunity to explore any one of these areas while
helping to create the CREST. The course demands consistent student effort and
dependability, but provides invaluable experience, many rewarding memories, and the
opportunity to serve the CBS community by preserving the personalities and happenings of
the school year. |

Keyboarding I/Word Processing |
5 Credits;
Semester |
Open to Sophomores , Juniors, and Seniors. |
This
course enables the student to develop essential keyboarding skills. These skills are
necessary for college-bound students and students seeking employment after high school
graduation. Students learn to format business letters and envelopes, reports, and term
papers. They learn to center material and set up tables, proofread, and correct errors.
The touch method of keyboarding is used and the goal is for students to be able to key
thirty-five to forty-five words per minute. This is a hands-on class; students work at the
keyboard every day. |

Keyboarding II/Word Processing |
5 Credits;
Semester |
Prerequisite: Completion of Keyboarding I with a grade of "C" or
better |
This
course is designed to give the student the opportunity to refine the skills acquired in
Keyboarding I. There will be further study of business letters, reports, and tables.
Students will learn to set up lists and outlines and to format a resume and a letter of
application. Students will practice to improve speed and accuracy and the goal for the
semester is from forty-five to fifty-five words per minute with a minimum of errors. This
is an excellent course for college-bound students and for students seeking employment
after graduating from high school. |
